French athletes join the OMEGA sports family. With the Olympic and Paralympic Games taking place next year in Paris, official timekeeper OMEGA has welcomed five French athletes to its family of sports ambassadors.

To celebrate this announcement, the group visited OMEGA headquarters in Bienne, Switzerland, to immerse themselves in the know-how and heritage of the brand. Each new face has been selected for their qualities of excellence, dedication, precision and performance – values ​​shared by OMEGA.

The athletes are :

Bassa Mawem – a speed climber who competed at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. In addition to setting the first Olympic record of 5.45 seconds during the speed event qualifying, he also won a silver medal at the world championships in 2018 and won three stages of the World Cup in 2018 and 2019.

Ysaora Thibus – three-time Olympic fencing (foil) champion who won a silver medal in the team event at Tokyo 2020. Having won several medals at major championships, she also won the supreme individual title by becoming champion of the world in 2022.

Romane Dicko – practices judo and won a gold medal in the mixed team event at Tokyo 2020, as well as a bronze medal in the +78kg competition. She became the +78kg world champion in 2022 and was a four-time gold medalist at the European Judo Championships.

Julia Chanourdie – climber who has won multiple medals, including a bronze medal at the 2017 Games. She competed at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, where climbing became an Olympic discipline for the first time in history. In November 2020, Julia also became one of only three women in the world to climb a 9b.

Alexis Hanquinquant – is a Paralympic athlete who competes in triathlon competitions. Before becoming a para-athlete, Alexis was a passionate basketball player and full contact boxer who participated in high-level competitions, becoming French champion in 2010. He notably won a gold medal in the the PTS4 event at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, as well as six consecutive gold medals at the world championships since the start of his career.

Together, the athletes visited the OMEGA museum, which includes a running track and a section dedicated to the brand’s role as official timekeeper of the Olympic and Paralympic Games. It was also an opportunity for them to discover the state-of-the-art production facilities, as well as the Tourbillon Workshop, in order to understand the complexity of the craftsmanship that is an integral part of the manufacturing of each OMEGA timepiece.
