Maison Veuve Clicquot and Maison Stella McCartney unveil 100% vegetable alternative leather and its associated bottle holder.

Maison Veuve Clicquot combines its spirit of innovation with its commitments to protecting the environment by partnering with Maison Stella McCartney.

Together, they are developing a new generation alternative leather based on grape harvest resources and designing a bottle holder.

INNOVATION

Stella McCartney and Veuve Clicquot are teaming up to launch a grape-based alternative to animal leather – a material that embodies our shared values and long-term commitments to sustainability, circularity and regenerative practices. Made from Veuve Clicquot’s wine by-products, the next-generation fabric was used to handcraft a selection of accessories which debuted as part of our Summer 2024 collection

A PIONEERING SPIRIT IN COMMON

Both Houses were founded by two pioneering women in their field. Stella McCartney inspires with her search for more sustainable alternatives to animal textiles, more respectful of the environment and animals. A profile reminiscent of Madame Clicquot. His various innovations – from the creation of vintage champagne to that of the first known blended rosé champagne – have lastingly transformed the Champenois process and continue to this day.

Respectively committed for many years to more eco-responsible practices, the Houses of Stella McCartney and Veuve Clicquot combine their know-how and their shared vision of progress to create together the very first vegetable leather made from the resources of the Champagne region.

Coming from bunches harvested on the lands of Bouzy, the historic vineyard of Maison Veuve Clicquot, then carefully sorted by hand, these valued resources make it possible to create 100% traceable vegetable leather of exceptional quality.

An innovation based on the principle of the circular economy which opens new avenues and results in the creation of objects, including a bottle holder containing a bottle of Brut Carte Jaune champagne soon available in France.
