Eleven MoonSwatch suitcases were sold at Sotheby’s for an amount of CHF 534,670 donated to Orbis, in order to make eye care accessible to everyone!

At the beginning of February, AMILCAR BUSINESS was pleased to announce this auction scheduled from February 12 to 24 .

Eleven MoonSwatch suitcases were sold at Sotheby’s for an amount of CHF 534,670 donated to Orbis, in order to make eye care accessible to everyone !

OMEGA sold eleven MoonSwatch cases dedicated to Moonshine Gold models at a special Sotheby’s online auction for a total of CHF 534,670, to raise much-needed funds for Orbis International, a long-standing partner of the brand.

Sold at auction from February 12 to 24, each of these unique suitcases contained the eleven OMEGA x Swatch “Mission to Moonshine Gold” watches. This was the first time these models were sold together and the exclusive MoonSwatch suitcase was available for purchase.

All proceeds from the auction will be donated to Orbis, which fights preventable blindness and vision loss around the world. 

Through its programs and aboard its flying eye hospital, Orbis has already provided eye care to millions of patients, while training hundreds of thousands of eye care professionals in the regions of the world that need it most. Orbis’ work is valuable, especially to children, as it allows many of them to see their parents, the moon and the stars for the very first time. While OMEGA has supported Orbis since 2011, the success of this auction will allow the organization to continue its mission – making eye care accessible to everyone.

The “Mission to Moonshine Gold” models take up the original silhouette of the great classics of the BIOCERAMIC MoonSwatch collection, giving it a dazzling touch. Each has a seconds hand coated in 18K Moonshine™ gold – a unique alloy created in-house at OMEGA that offers a subtler, more durable form of yellow gold. Each of the Moonshine™ gold hands also reveals a special detail, such as a strawberry motif for the “Strawberry Moon” in July, or a flower motif for the “Flower Moon” in May. Before the end of the auction, OMEGA lovers were able to view the suitcases on display in eleven of its boutiques around the world, including Zurich, Tokyo, Bangkok, Singapore, Hong Kong, Beijing, New York, London, Milan, Paris, and Sydney.

They are now in the hands of eleven lucky collectors. OMEGA thanks everyone who participated in the auction and appreciates the great interest shown in Orbis.
